Abstract

This article presents a conceptual depiction of the importance of transformational leadership at different phases of the innovation process. The two themes of nurturant and persistent leadership are linked with transformational leadership theory. They are then used as a basis for understanding the role of leadership behavior in successful innovations. Research possibilities and potential implications are presented regarding the proposed model.
