Transformation of surface states from Shockley-like to Tamm-like in photonic crystals

Abstract

We investigate how the asymmetry of surface potential affects the Shockley surface states in photonic crystals and demonstrate the transformation of the Shockley surface states into the Tamm states for the first time.
