Abstract

In this paper, we investigate two well-known federated identity management (FIM) solutions, Microsoft Passport and Liberty Alliance, to show how Web Services (WS) as a functional building block in FIM can play an integral role in enriching identity management (IM) through federation. We also identify and discuss principal requirements for information assurance (IA) in WS for FIM, which should be addressed towards IA-aware WS for FIM.
