Abstract

Aluminosilicate melts of geologically significant compositions are thermodynamically and structurally complex, with small changes in the degree of polymerization, the framework structure, and the interactions of non-framework cations all playing potentially equally important roles in determining properties. The problems of immiscibility at SiO2-rich compositions and determination of heats of fusion are discussed.R.A.H.
