Abstract
To the Editor: The article by Stover and Nightingale entitled “The Medical Profession and the Prevention of Torture” (Oct. 24 issue)1 is a welcome call for physicians and other health professionals to act on human-rights issues. It clearly describes how organizations of physicians can cooperate to prevent torture and to oppose the complicity of medical professionals in the practice of torture. Many readers of the Journal may be wondering what they can do to prevent human-rights abuses.
