Abstract

Low resolution dispersed fluorescence following laser excitation of the R(1.5) line of the (0, 0) band of the B 4Γ 5/2-X 4Φ 3/2 transition has been used to obtain the first direct gas phase measurements of the vibrational frequencies of the ground X 4Φ state of TiH and TiD. Observation of a very weak (0, 1) band in the dispersed fluorescence spectra allowed determination of ground state vibrational spacings, ΔG 1/2 of 1520(10) cm -1 for TiH and 1109(10) cm -1 for TiD.
