Abstract

Color scalability is of importance in several multimedia and image database applications. Several color mapping algorithms have been reported in the literature. However, they are not efficient for color scalability. In this paper we propose an adaptive Cube algorithm for scalable color mapping. This algorithm is flexible and adapts to a variety of graphic display capabilities (8, 12, 16, 24 bits, etc...) and is well suited for interactive applications.
