Abstract
The annual probability of exceeding levels of the root mean square acceleration (RMSa) of strong ground shaking is evaluated for downtown San Francisco. Attenuation relationships for RMSa are developed for use in the seismic hazard analysis. A Bayesian seismic hazard analysis that incorporates the variability in seismicity parameters and the attenuation uncertainty is used.
