Abstract
M. J. Dentino et al. (1978) proposed a frequency domain algorithm (DLMS) using computationally efficient FFT processing. Later, a Fast LMS (FLMS) frequency domain algorithm was suggested by E. R. Ferrara (1980) which uses the overlap and save method and thus is a transform of the time domain LMS algorithm. Ways to enhance these algorithms are investigated. Results using windows in conjunction with the DLMS are obtained. Then FLMS is investigated using constant and normalized convergence factors for both white and colored noise excitation. In the light of these results, a convergence factor is presented that enhances the performance of FLMS, particularly with colored noise inputs.
