Abstract

This book combines the hydraulic simulation of physical processes with mathematical programming and differential dynamic programming techniques to ensure the optimization of hydrosystems. The contents includes: groundwater management systems; water distribution system operation; freshwater inflows to estuaries; sediment control in rivers and reservoirs; optimal operation of soil aquifer treatment systems using SALQR and stochastic optimal control for estuarine management. With an extensive use of figures, tables and equations it is an indispensable reference for civil, hydraulic, operations research, mechanical and water resources engineers, environmental engineers and scientist and hydrologists.
