Abstract

Low resolution mass spectra have been recorded at 20 eV and 70 eV under comparable conditions for a series of nucleosides which are components, or possible components, of tRNA: pseudouridine, 5,6-dihydrouridine, 5-methylcytidine, ribothymidine, 3-methyluridine, inosine, 1-methyladenosine, N6-methyladenosine, 1-methylinosine, guanosine, N4-acetylcytidine, N6, N6-dimethyladenosine, N2-methylguanosine, 1-methylguanosine, 7-methylguanosine, and 2-methoxyadenosine. These spectra can be used for the identification of presently known nucleosides and for the identification of newly isolated ribosides by consideration of their fragmentation patterns relative to those of the known compounds.
