Abstract

The knowledge-intensive nature of global software development efforts poses various challenges for organizations. Organizations need to develop new methods and models for handling the vast amount of knowledge involved in outsourcing projects. These projects have moved from ordinary software maintenance tasks to more complex and significant engagements such as innovative product development, complex system development and large-scale R&D projects. Different technological solutions across the global enterprise require knowledge integration and connectivity management. The organizations should be knowledgeable about different work practices and try to leverage the results in terms of knowledge sharing, collaboration, and global knowledge searching. When global and cross-cultural collaboration is temporary, appreciating and understanding different ways of tackling knowledge management might prove to be more efficient and productive.
