Abstract
Low frequency Raman spectra of chalcogenide glasses are analyzed in terms of matrix element effects and modes of a layered structure. The spectra of GeSe2 at low temperature shows no peaks which can be assigned to layer modes. The reduced spectra indicates that the density of states exhibits nearly ω2 dependence for ω < 60 cm-1, and the coupling constant approaches ω2 dependence at frequencies less than 20 cm-1.
