Abstract

Recent work at Hoeganaes Corporation has shown that dual phase P/M steels exhibit increased strength, hardness, and ductility with aging temperature. In this work, we have used microstructure characterization, coupled with nanoindentation of the individual microconstituents, to obtain a fundamental understanding of the relationship between microstructure and mechanical properties. The evolution of the microstructure with aging time is also be discussed.
