Furthermore, relevant managers and stakeholders should make tourists realize the value and significance of ERB and ECB and the adverse consequences and negative effects of EDB. These knowledges can help tourists practice ECB and reduce EDB so that the impacts on tourism destinations can be minimized. Since tourists’ appropriate SN have positive impact on their ECBI and EDBI, building a harmonious (Ju et al., 2016); the hypothesis that SN have significant positive impact on ERBI is not supported, which may due to the fact that ERB is a kind of behavior that requires a high sense of environmental responsibility for tourists, and it is not largely affected by others. The administrative department of tourism destination should take appropriate incentive measures for the ERB of tourists to reduce the cost and difficulty of implementing the ERB.Through empirical analysis, this study identifies and analyzes three dimensions of tourists’ environmental behavior, and divides tourists’ environmental behavior into three different types: ERB, ECB and EDB. This paper uses the theory of planned behavior to construct three different interpretation models of tourists’ environmental behavior, and uses SEM method to verify the hypotheses relationship in the interpretation model. The results show that the hypotheses relationship between ATT, SN, PBC, EBI and EB in the tourists’ ECB and EDB interpretation model were all supported. However, in the interpretation model of tourists’ ERB, the hypothesis that SN positively affect EBI was not supported. Therefore, this study provides suggestions and guidance for the relevant environmental management and policy-making departments to formulate and implement scientific and reasonable measures and policies of the environmental protection of tourism destinations, to effectively solve the environmental problems of tourism destinations and promote the high-quality development of tourism destinations. This research was funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (Grant Number: 41771147) and the Social Science Foundation of Jiangsu Province (Grant Number: 19GLC012).

N2 - Human behavior has varying effects on the environment because of its way and intensity. The majority of the current studies on tourists’ environmental behavior primarily considers the environmentally conservative behavior and the environmentally disturbing behavior, while the environmentally radical behavior (very strong sense of responsibility) has not been well-documented in the literature. This study aims to examine the dimensions of tourists’ environmental behavior and the mechanism of different types of tourists’ environmental behavior. Study results identify three dimensions of tourists’ environmental behavior, including: 1) environmentally radical behavior, 2) environmentally conservative behavior, and 3) environmentally disturbing behavior. This paper uses the theory of planned behavior to develop three different interpretation models of tourists’ environmental behavior, and test hypothesized relationships in the interpretation models by structural equation models. The results show that the hypothesized relationships between attitude, subjective norms, perceived behavioral control, environmental behavioral intention and environmental behavior in the tourists’ environmentally conservative behavior and environmentally disturbing behavior interpretation model were all supported. However, the hypothesis that subjective norms positively affect the environmental behavioral intention was not supported in the model of tourists’ environmentally radical behavior. Study results provide suggestions and guidance for tourism management agencies to implement scientific and effective tourism environmental protection measures and policies.
