Abstract

A 4p-4h state near 20.8 MeV in ¹⁶O, populated by the ¹²C(⁶Li,d) ¹⁶O and ¹²C(⁷Li,t) ¹⁶O reactions, is found to have a high spin value. It is suggested to be the J^π = 8⁺ member of the first even-parity rotational band.
