Abstract

Unlike a sample of Mytilus edulis from North America (Mitton and Koehn, 1973), two large samples from the south coast of Wales (Pendine and Aberavon), did not show association of alleles at the functionally related Ap and Lap loci. At Aberavon an additional five locus pairs were examined and only one (Lap-Pgm) showed significant non-random association. However, even this association was not present when the sample was divided into different size classes, nor was it present in a composite sample from another area of the south coast of Wales (Gower).
