Abstract

The authors propose a combined source-channel coding scheme which provides error protection in order to improve the coding performance over noisy channels for three frame replenishment coding techniques. The scheme provides a trade-off between the reconstruction accuracy associated with the source coder and the degree of error protection. The simulation results demonstrate that a small amount of error protection provides a significant improvement in performance without sacrificing transmission bandwidth.
