Abstract
The rutile (TiO2) (001) surfaces are found reconstructed due to the addition of alumina during high temperature (1500°C) annealing in an oxygen atmosphere. Reflection electron microscopy images showed that the configuration of the surface steps changed remarkably upon the structural change from unreconstructed to reconstructed surfaces. The diffusion processes of alumina on rutile (001) surfaces are also discussed.
