Abstract

Conductors arranged in a bundle for transmission and distribution will experience magnetic forces between them. If the conductors carry current in the same direction, the force between the conductors shall be to attract them. The magnetic force is a result of the Lorenz force equation. The expression is expanded in terms of the geometry of vertically bundled overhead transmission conductors, and a user friendly graphic user interface is described for the calculation of the current that causes the bundle to collapse.
