Spiders Silk: From Protein-rich Gland Fluids to Diverse Biopolymer Fibers

Project: Research project

Description

Professor Jeffery L. Yarger has a longstanding collaboration with Prof. Greg Holland and we are proposing a joint research project that will be led by Prof. Greg Holland at San Diego State University (SDSU) and subcontracted to ASU. This project involves collaboration between the Holland and Yarger groups on characterization of spider silk proteins and fibers. The ASU Magnetic Resonance Research Center (MRRC) and its staff will also provide access to their facilities and equipment and preform work in collaboration with scientists at San Diego State University in support of this project. Liquid and solid state NMR spectroscopy will be carried out in the ASU MRRC to characterize materials integral to this project. This is a standard 3-year DOD grant proposal and has a standard 3-year subcontract to ASU.
