Description

Process based Ontology Design for Smart Home Applications Process based Ontology Design for Smart Home Applications The proposed research project is to investigate the feasibility of constructing an ontologybased knowledge representation for the semantic content and process model of smart home applications. The knowledge representation can be utilized to address the following issues in smart home environment of dissimilar houses and distinct residents: What functions and services can a smart home provide to its residents? How can the required and desired services be realized? For the first issue, the knowledge representation should be able to provide a conceptual description of services in a smart home and can be inquired and searched by house residents. For the second issue, it enables the construction of the generic sequence and control flow of the required service. The service flow model can then be converted to an execution plan with the available home equipment and resident's preference.
