Integrating Energy Sustainability into Engineering Curricula using Cyberinfrastructure Integrating Energy Sustainability into Engineering Curricula using Cyberinfrastructure We propose to develop a model for multidiscipline courses/set of courses which incorporates a broad education about sustainability into the engineering curriculum by applying cognitive load theory and problem based learning to developing a set of cyber-infrastructure. While sustainability encompasses many themes, the focus of the proposed work is on the development of sustainable energy. This theme is chosen because of the prominence, importance and challenges in developing a sustainable energy system. Further, because sustainable energy inherently draws from many technical disciplines, it requires integration both of technical, economic and social concepts as well as integration of different technical disciplines.
