Create and verify an execution capacity allocation model for an entire Assembly-Test factory to meet the customer demand. The model will be run at least daily and will generate a production schedule (or production goal) per product group per operation for next fourteen days (planning horizon chosen based on the expected TPT for the Assembly-Test factories) for each of the major equipment groups in the factory. The model will also consider parameters or restrictions which will include: the capacity, product, route, operation, machine entity, run rate, setup time, PM schedule, calendar, lot size, fixture (such as tester kit), qualification matrix, material availability and the TPT. The allocation model will consist of a production plan generator and a scheduler. The production plan generator uses two basic formulations: LP formulation and MRP formulation, to get aggregated production plans, which will then be fed into the scheduler to generate detail production schedules and statistics report. We will also develop a solution methodology that directly integrates information from the scheduler into the production plan generator to intelligently adjust parameters and allow iterative improvement of the solution. The stochastic simulation will verify the efficacy of the results across variety of scenarios. What technology or usage issues motivate this problem? To enable short-term capacity planning as an Intel competitive advantage, Intel needs to be more responsive to customer order requests (COR) (e.g., responding to COR in less than 24 hrs), while maintaining proper inventory mix and level.
