Arizona State University will be responsible for all web hosting and management services in support of the InvertEBase Symbiota data portal that will be used to coordinate, process, and publish specimen records associated with this project. Hosting services will include providing server and storage for data, image derivatives, and database backups. Hosting will also incorporate server and database maintenance, software updates, and data portal configuration adjustments. Portal management responsibilities will include adding 15 new collection profiles, providing support for at least one live-managed collection, preforming regular data refreshes of snapshot datasets, setting up profiles for batch submission and storage of specimen JPG image derivatives, monitoring and cleaning specimen datasets, building and maintaining taxonomic thesaurus and other authority tables, and troubleshooting intermittent data issues that are commonly associated with such projects. Taxonomic authority table maintenance will involve integrating the full WoRMS database as the central taxonomic thesaurus, with capabilities for researchers to verify and add new taxa that will be passed back to WoRMS to be incorporated into their system. In support of data managers making use of the various specimen digitizing tools built into Symbiota, user assistance and help desk support will be provided via web and video tutorials, training sessions, and occasional one-on-one consultations. Portal management will be covered by a part-time position that will be supervised by Edward Gilbert.
