PI Nicholson will manage all aspects of the collection and integration of GIS, paleoclimate, and radiocarbon data into the SNA platform. He will begin by using spatially-gridded paleoclimate data from PaleoView to reconstruct and examine long-term climate trends during the Magdalenian Period. He will also use radiocarbon dates from sites in the study region to create summed probability distributions of population density. He can then compare the two temporal trends against each other to examine the relationship between climate and population growth or decline. This information will then be used in the social network analysis to examine relationships between populations across the study area.
