Dataset

Description

The data consist of interview recordings and transcripts with three language learners in China. The project examines how self-directed language learners manage their learning processes and invest in the practice. The interviews were conducted online over a span of one month in October and November 2019.
The interviews cover a range of topics, including learning behaviors, use of resources, language beliefs, and learner motivation. I have written two articles based on the dataset. One of them examines the SDLL practices from a sociocultural perspective, while the other looks at how participants invest in language learning through Darvin and Norton's (2015) investment model.
