Description

This survey was administered via telephone interviews to adult
residents in the greater Phoenix Metro area in the fall of 2016. The purpose of
the survey was to gather information about leisure time physical activity (LTPA)
behaviors, perceptions of the neighborhood environment (defined as the area
within a 10-15 minute walk from home), and sense of community. A quota sampling
technique was performed using random digit dialing to identify a proportionate
number of respondents in the age ranges 18-34, 35-49, 50-64, and 65+, resulting in a total sample of N = 597. The survey included scale items describing three latent
constructs: LTPA, SOC, and NE as well as additional control variables. For
information related to controls and question wording, see the included questionnaire.,Presence of Common Scales: LTPA items were adapted from the Neighborhood Physical Activity Questionnaire (Giles-Corti et al. 2006).

Perceptions of NE were
assessed using a modification of an existing scale: The Physical Activity
Neighborhood Environment Scale (PANES/IPS) (Sallis et al. 2010).

SOC was measured using a scale developed by Wood
and colleagues (2010).

Full scale information can be found in questionnaire.
