Abstract
The density variation of liquid iron-based alloys containing W, Me, Nb, Ni, Sn and Si additives is found to be of nonmonotonic nature. To explain the sudden change in density at certain concentrations of alloying elements, models of atomic interaction spheres in highly dilute solutions are employed.
