Abstract

This article addresses the role of social and community workers in efforts to retain and attract youth to the country and the small towns. Consideration is given to current phenomena such as migration, depopulation and growth and specific suggestions for possible interventions in the economic, social and cultural arenas are provided. Examples from Australia and other countries are included.
