Abstract
Drama in Education (DE) is a unique performance discipline focused on process-oriented theatrical techniques designed to engage a broad spectrum of learners. It is an exciting, theoretically significant, and historically rooted field of inquiry and genre of transdisciplinary theatrical and pedagogical practice. In this introduction the editors outline key definitions and considerations that frame this Companion, including key history, theories, and practices. The editors also identify resonant themes that unify the more than 50 essays contained within this Companion and point to future research and artistic practice in the Drama in Education field.
