Abstract

With the development of power electronic technology, the range of applications for VSC-HVDC systems has been widely broadened in renewable energy, microgrid and power transmission. This article proposes an optimal control strategy for VSC-HVDC transmission system by embedding an automatic power transfer controller. The proposed approach is depicted theoretically, and a completed simulation for the system has been described. Simulation results comparisons between the proposed method and the conventional d-q vector control of VSC-HVDC haven been performed. The results confirm the superior of the designated approach under different dynamic performance tests.
