Abstract

In this article Horace's Ode I 9 is compared with the translation of this beautiful poem by Horace done by Giacomo Leopardi at the beginning of his poetic career. Instead of considering this youthful experience a negligible practice activity, this article tries to put in evidence not only the valuable quality of the translation but also some anticipations of this great Italian poet's poetic maturity.
