Variational theory of nuclear matter at finite temperatures

Abstract

Variational methods developed for the ground-state are extended to the calculation of the finite temperature properties of nuclear matter. Results for the effective mass and free energy are given, and the behavior of m*(ρ{variant}, T) is compared with the predictions of Skryme models.
