Abstract

Despite the large body of research on mobile information systems only few empirical studies have been undertaken exploring its characteristics and value propositions. In order to provide an initial point of discussion for theory development in this area, this paper investigates industry experts' perceptions towards the characteristics and value propositions of mobile information systems. The findings illustrate similarities and discrepancies between the current literature and the participants' perceptions. The paper concludes with a summary of the findings and recommendations for future research.
