Abstract

Coupling of intersubband plasmons associated with two cascading transitions in a quantum well has been studied. It is shown that the coupling can lead to the disappearance of the lower resonance amidst an anti-crossing behavior. Such spectral anomalies are of collective and resonant nature and provide the first example of Coulomb interaction induced transparency. The results from a microscopic theory are confirmed by an analytical model.
