title = "Transition morphology during HCP precipitation from beta-isomorphous alloys",
author = "Carpenter, {R. W.} and Liu, {C. T.}",
note = "Funding Information: In this letter we wish to point out some experimental results from the Nb-Hf alloy system, which is also very similar to the Ti-V system (4,5). The rYb--Hf phase diagram is B-isomorphous tyoe. ~\]~e< ~ precipitation morphology was investigated by TEM in alloys containing 38 and 54 at. percent ilf. When these alloys were quenched from the ~ field and aged at relatively high temperatures i~ the ~+~ field the resulting a precipitate morphology is rod-type, virtually identical to that shown is K&BI, fig. 6a. If, however, aging occurred at lower temperatures (600 to 800°C) a different morphology was found: the precipitate varied from plate type to ellipsoidal, with major axis parallel to a (i00) direction. This morphology was very similar to that shown in *Research sponsored by the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission under contract with the Union Carbide Corporation.",
