Abstract

Transient frequency modulation absorption spectroscopy has been applied to transition metal containing molecules generated in a laser ablation/chemical reaction supersonic expansion. The (0, 0) A″ 1Σ+ - X 1Σ+ band system of PtC (ν=12 643 cm-1) and the (1,0) C 3Δ1 - X 3Δ sub-band system of TiS (ν=12 065 cm-1) were recorded in single pass through the expanding gas 4 cm from the source.
