Abstract

JICST-E was already a key tool for any searcher needing information on Japanese science and technology. JICST has launched an ambitious upgrade project that goes well beyond the name change to JICST-EPlus. Adding "preview records" will allow searchers more rapid access to information from a world leader in technology and science. The addition of preprint and proceeding records will allow searchers to "listen in" easily on a stratum of Japanese technical information previously unavailable in Western languages and difficult to access even in Japanese. Users accustomed to applying the JICST thesaurus in their searching will need to adjust the search strategies to take full advantage of the new information. The upgrade is an exciting development for users of Japanese scientific and technical information.
