An analytical theory for a liquid was used to derive the time resolved inhomogeneous broadened line shape. The relation between the Stokes shift correlation function and the time resolved inhomogeneous linewidths in solvents was also derived by assuming the Gaussian fluctuations of optical transmission frequencies. It was demonstrated that heterogeneous nature of the supercooled liquids is responsible for the rise in asymmetric lines and to a maximum in the linewidth as afunction of time.
