The permanent electric dipole moments of ruthenium monocarbide in the 3Π and 3Δ states

Abstract

Stark shifts in the (0,0) bands of the [12.7] 3Π2- [0.1] 3Δ3 and [13.9] 3Π1- [0.9] 3Δ2 systems of 102RuC were analyzed to produce the magnitude of the permanent electric dipole moments, |μ|, for RuC in the [0.1] 3Δ3, [0.9] 3Δ 3, [12.7] 3Π2, and [13.9] 3Π1 states of 1.95(2), 1.86(2), 3.58(3) and 3.44(3) D, respectively. A comparison is made with ab initio predictions for RuC, and with experimental results for isovalent FeC and with RuN.
