Ten questions on glassformers, and a real space `excitations' model with some answers on fragility and phase transitions

Abstract

Ten questions covering the outstanding aspects of the phenomenology of glassforming liquids that have to be properly answered by any successful theory of structural glassformers are formed. The questions range from thermodynamic, mass transfer, and vibrational dynamics phenomena. Addressed only by a collective variables approach, several questions may be dealt by the use of simple physical models of appropriate form. The existence of elementary configurational excitations of an amorphous quasilattice in a model is discussed.
