Abstract

Trimethoxysilyl terminated oligomers were successfully prepared by conventional anionic techniques. The oligomers possessed narrow molecular weight distributions, predictable molecular weights, and high functionality. Endcapped oligomers were efficiently condensed under acidic conditions and the narrow molecular weight distribution was preserved. 29Si NMR of the condensate defined the condensation mechanism and molecular structure of the star polymer.
