Abstract

The experimental and analytical results of a simply supported T-girder bridge subjected to a truck-trailer moving across the span are presented. A comparison is made between the experimental results and analytical results. The bridge deck profile is idealized as a sinusoidal profile, a smooth surface with a single sinusoidal depression, or random process for theoretical analysis. The sinusoidal deck profiles are used to study the frequency influence on bridge response, single sinusoidal depression to study the effect of local depressions on bridge deck such as an expansion joint, and random process to represent realistic road roughness.
