Abstract
The U238(p,t)U236 reaction was studied with 27.34-MeV protons, and the ratio of the yield of the first excited 0+ state to that of the ground state was found to be 0.14 0.03. The excellent agreement with the value previously obtained with 17-MeV protons supports the view that such unusual strength reflects a new type of collective mode for this state.
