Abstract

Recent efforts in accounting for uncertainties in power system load flow data are summarized. Different sources of uncertainty are characterized by different levels of uncertainty. The stochastic nature of the data gives rise to a statistical distribution for line power flow level and bus voltage profile. Errors in bus demand data due to inaccurate load forecast are pointed out. The theory of multivariate normal random variables is discussed and applied to the stochastic power flow problem. The present status of stochastic power flow methods is reported, and conjectures are made about the future of the area.
