N1 - Funding Information: Dr. Nelson was awarded a McKnight Land-Grant Professorship and is a recipient of the Office of Naval Research Young Investigator Award, the National Science Foundation Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Award, the McKnight Presidential Fellows Award, the Bronze Tablet, and was elected as a Robotics and Automation Society Distinguished Lecturer. He serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Micromechatronics and the IEEE Robotics and Automation Magazine. He has chaired several international workshops and conferences. Funding Information: Currently, he is the Director of the Medical Automation Research Center, University of Virgina Health System, Charlottesville. He conducted his postdoctoral work with the National Institutes of Mental Health, Bethesda, MD. He has published many basic and clinical research articles, 50 medical automation research articles, 15 chapters and reviews, has been awarded eight patents, and has 23 patents pending. He was founding Editor of the Journal of the Association for Laboratory Automation, a peer-reviewed journal that has been published for more than five years Dr. Felder has also served as a member of the editorial boards of Clinical and Experimental Hypertension, Laboratory Information Management, Advance News for Administrators of the Laboratory, and Clinica Chimica Acta. He has received awards, such as the Fogarty International Fellowship, the Young Clinical Investigator Award from the Association for Clinical Scientists, and the Young Investigator Award from both the American Federation for Clinical Research and the American Physiological Society. He founded the Association for Laboratory Automation.
