Abstract

Silicon on Inulsator (SOI) based field effect nano sensor device enables very high sensitive detection of target moluecules in the ambient atmostphere. It can be used for snsing of biochemical agents and toxic gases much below 1 part per billion concentration levels.The new technology imporves the snesitivity of the detection by at least one order of magnitude when compared to any other existing technology. A well engineered device is expected to give up two to three orders of magnitude higher sensitivity.The device can be used multiple times, due an innovative resetting mechanism, and is stable over very long periods of time (years). It can be used in liquid phase sensing as well.Since it is based on silicon technology it is very cheap to fabricate, making it disposable. Use of silicon also allows integration with biological systems, for use inside human body.
