Social sciences should be included in every IFSE conference because social science is now, and has always been, real science, including both the production of basic knowledge and the translation of that knowledge into technologies that have real impact on people's lives. The historical development of several social science methods, including probability theory and regression, provide examples of these developments that have always been both quantitative and qualitative.
