N2 - The purpose of the current paper is to provide a review of the Narrative Language Measures (NLM) for use with Spanish-speaking preschool children. We review the format, scoring, reliability, and validity of the NLM. The NLM can be used for progress monitoring of narrative skills, and for benchmark assessment in the classroom. The results of the review indicate that the measure has good reliability and concurrent validity; however, additional validation is needed for different populations, such as monolingual Spanish speakers, and students from diverse income levels, given that the validation was done mostly with low-income children. It is recommended that additional validation be completed and that those using the NLM consider cultural and linguistic variations.
